Inspirationism and Past Life Regression
There are plenty of theories to explain the experience of a “past life recall.” There are those who say that reincarnation is a fact. There are those who think these “recalls” are metaphors, nicely staged images from your mind designed to draw your attention, in waking life, to a certain issue. The idea also exists that these “recalls” arise from stored “cellular memory” within each strand of DNA. The concept of an etheric plane databank or collective unconscious answers for some, and still others believe that demons or disincarnate beings can invade your body, bringing thoughts and memories with them. Whatever you believe about the origin or reality of these instances, they sometimes occur during hypnotherapy and the client is always allowed to reach their own conclusion about the experience.
It is my belief that qualified, well trained hypnotherapist will never ask a person under hypnosis about either a past life regression or sexual abuse that was not already disclosed by the client before the hypnosis began. If undisclosed memories of past lives or sexual abuse surface for the client while in trance, it can cause severe confusion and potentially “invalidate” the clients’ right to a “clean” memory. A qualified hypnotherapist will never “lead” a client to an idea, but let that client reach his own conclusions based on his experience and mind. This is why I only use symbols of a clients choosing during sessions. It is not for me to dictate, but to facilitate. Beware of any therapist with an agenda of their own.
